Wedding planning - Who pays for what?
In the past it was assumed that the bride and her family would be responsible for most of the wedding expenses. However, in today's society, people are generally not adhering to hard and fast rules anymore. It is very common for an older couple or couple who are not marrying for the first time to pay for the wedding themselves or to divide many of the expenses between the bride and groom's family. The following list represent the traditional breakdown of who is expected to pay for what.
The Bride & Her Family
Bridal gown, accessories and trousseau.
Bridesmaid luncheon (optional).
The engagement party.
Flowers for ceremony, reception site, and bridal attendants.
Groom's ring.

Fees for the musicians at ceremony and reception.
All photography expenses (including engagement photos & videotaping).
All expenses for the reception (cake, food, beverages, tips, etc.).
